5 Questions You Should Be Asking Your Caterer

Searching for a caterer for your upcoming event and don’t know what you should be looking for or asking? These 5 questions are a great starting point! You may not realize the many services available to you through your caterer or what policies to be aware of, so keep these 5 basic – but important – questions in mind when meeting with prospective caterers.

Do You Coordinate Rentals?

Ever heard the phrase “kill two birds with one stone”? This is one of those situations. Often times, your caterer also provides rental coordination which can be a massive help! Ask your coordinator about linens, napkins, flatware, plates, glassware, etc.!

What Bar Services Do You Offer?

If you’re looking for bar services for your event, ask your catering coordinator! They can help you decide which bar service suits your event best whether that be a hosted bar, cash bar, drink tickets to cash bar, or you bring it - we serve it.

Do You Offer Menu Tastings?

Before committing to a set menu, ask your caterer about whether they offer tastings. Menu tastings are a great way to try out your selections and calm any worries about whether or not you made the right choices (we love having peace of mind!).

Can I Hire Your For Setup, Teardown, and Room Flipping?

Looking for help on setting up, flipping the room, or tearing down? Your caterer might be able to help! Ask them if this is an additional service that they provide.

What Happens if my Guest Count Changes?

Not all caterers are the same, so be sure to ask your caterer about their policies. Final details such as guaranteed guest count will be required at some point, so be sure to have that information and mark it in your calendar!

Lot's of people don't realize just how many services caterers provide and that's okay!

We don't expect you to know all the ins and outs of the industry, but that is why we are here to help you every step of the way. While you may have additional questions along your planning journey, be sure to save this article as a starting point for that first meeting, phone call, or email with all the caterers that you meet. We wish you the best of luck in your search and hope you have a great time planning your event!
